The text on this piece is by activist, writer, revolutionary thinker, Grace Lee Boggs, from her book “The Next American Revolution”. Painted in large letters, the size of your body, the question”What time is it on the clock of the world? A time to transform having more into growing more.” looks you in the eyes, offering a visionary look at how we as citizens of the world will continue moving forward in these dire times. The bold, vibrant letters/words/phrases sitting on the wall, offer the greater META (Facebook Inc.) community a chance to re-imagine their role and power in the larger society. I start with 5 colors as the base layer and then use 3 colors to reveal the letters, as the second layer. On top of this two-layered mural are 4 small paintings, placed randomly, sharing Boggs’ additional responses to her original question, “A time for caring for one another”, “A time for higher humanity”, “A time to envision a radically different form of living” and “A time for saying yes to love”.
